The original 13 albums were re-released on CD in 1987, digitally remastered by Mike Jarratt at Abbey Road Studios. Help! and Rubber Soul were remixed by George Martin.
Several songs (I Feel Fine, Day Tripper, Drive My Car and Paperback Writer)
have slightly premature fade-outs so the versions on PM1/2 and Rubber Soul
are better. A Hard Day's Night and Eight Days A Week have slightly longer
fade-out than their mono versions.
It should also be noted that the 'toppled plate' sound effect at the end of
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is quieter on this release because they have put a fade
out on the end of the song (normally it jumps into Wild Honey Pie) and that
While My Guitar Gently Weeps doesn't have the 'huh' at the start of this
version (the one on the CD version of The Beatles suffers from slightly bad
mastering).
Several songs (Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, All You Need Is Love, Hello
Goodbye, Magical Mystery Tour, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Hey Jude, Get
Back, Come Together and Octopus's Garden, Across The Universe) have slightly
premature fade-outs so the versions on PM2 and the various albums are better.

Sorry - I don't normally rant this much.

CD completists have to buy this for the clean fade-in version of A Day In The

is chop off the track before it merges into Dear Prudence).

30th anniversary edition. Limited to 250,000 copies, apparently. Comes in a
replica LP sleeve with minature prints and reproduction of original poster.
Remixed and remastered with the George Martin instrumentals kicked out. Not actually a full
songtrack because they've missed out a few songs from Pepper, like A Day In The
Life so that people would still have to buy both. Everyone creams themselves over the
remixing of certain tracks eg. Hey Bulldog but I can't see what all the fuss is about.
The packaging is poor and the limited yellow vinyl was nice but pointless. Why not some dialogue
snippets? Why not the tiny vocal refrain from Think For Yourself? Why not the full
version of It's All Too Much? Why not - Apple are too busy milking the cash cow to bother
themselves with what we might want.
Just don't bother to buy this poor excuse for a greatest hits collection.
