Donovan first book of his poetry. It's called Dry Songs and Scribbles. It's tan coloured and about 8-/12 inches square. It's published by Doubleday & Co., 1971. and deleted, of course, and so you'll have to find a copy in a second hand bookstore somewhere.
There are some examples of Donovan's poetry here.
She
Donovan's only other poetry, released circa 1996 and limited to 1000 copies.
Fan Club Magazines
Both Donovan's Friends and The Hurdy Gurdy Man produce magazines with articles, discussions, etc. about Donovan.
Donovan's Friends
The original fan club magazine, combining numerous pictures and new articles and interviews.
A cropped shot of Linda from the cover of Lady of the Stars adorns the front cover of the first issue. Some interesting stuff here, but still very much in the early stages.
This issue is dedicated to the album A Gift from a Flower to a Garden and practically all of the issue has reprints from the original double LP, including all twelve lithographs. Very nice, but not very useful if you already have the album.
There is also the results of the first Friends poll, with A Gift from a Flower to a Garden winning the best album and favorite album cover categories, whilst Hurdy Gurdy Man, Dark Eyed Blue Jean Angel and Catch the Wind taking the number one spot for favorite single, favorite album track and song which you'd most like to see Donovan perform live, respectively.
This one contains a transcription of an interview conducted by Dierdre O'Donoghue for SNAP on KCRW Radio as well as a number of lyrics spread about the pages.
Split between a selection of the letters wrote to Friends after Pat announced that he might not be able to continue with the club, and the results of the latest Donovan poll, this issue is not one of the best but still enjoyable.
The new baby on the scene, mixing readers' letters with old press clippings. A good recipe.
The first issue of HGM that I received. I was impressed.
Another advancement on the previous issue. I'm even mentioned on the first page, to my surprise!
Contains the songs: You're Gonna Need Somebody On Your Bond, Josie, Cuttin' Out, Goldwatch Blues, Catch The Wind, Colours, Ramblin' Boy, The Most of What Is Least and Keep On Truckin'.
Apparently the scores in this book don't sound much like the actual Donovan tunes when played.
